Pergola awning in the Waterfront Café
The sheltered terrace area of the Waterfront Café in Benson, Oxfordshire, has been extended with a PergoTex II pergola awning from weinor . A translucent fabric from the Pergona collection allows pleasant daylight to shine through into the catering area.
One extension follows another: in 2013, the bistro, idyllically situated on the River Thames to the west of London, already had a weinor patio roof installed on part of the terrace. This protected guests from the rain, wind and other elements from above. the extension to the glass oasis followed in 2014. The patio roof was fitted with sliding glass elements to protect guests from the rain and wind from the side. The advantage of this system is that it can be easily installed under the existing roof and offers maximum transparency to the outside, as only a few frame profiles are required. For the Waterfront Café, this means that the catering area has been extended and is more independent of the weather, guests can linger longer on the terrace and still have a close connection to the beautiful surroundings thanks to the glazing.
After the patio roof and conservatory came the pergola awning
Encouraged by the positive experience and the increased number of guests, the Waterfront Café now wanted to equip the remaining part of the terrace with a 17.5 x 5.5 metre weather protection structure. They were immediately impressed by a new weinor product offered by the contractor and weinor partner Eden Verandas: the pergola awning PergoTex. The highlight: the fabric can be unfolded like a convertible when the weather permits. This allows guests to enjoy the sun and fresh air. If the weather changes, the fabric can be closed again, providing reliable protection from wind and rain. This is because the material is waterproof and the side guide means it can also withstand the wind. Nobody has to leave the patio.
Sophisticated installation
Experts from Eden Verandas and weinor met several times in advance to plan the project together with the client. Connecting the new pergola awning to the existing glass oasis was a particular challenge. In addition, the construction had to be installed during ongoing operations. To ensure that guests were not disturbed by the work for too long, the installation had to be completed in a very short space of time. Everything went perfectly and the owners of the catering business are highly satisfied - with the product, the installation and the service.
Translucent fabric
The client was also delighted with the new translucent Pergona fabric. It not only has a particularly smooth, tear-resistant and waterproof surface that reliably drains rainwater. Pergona also allows more light to pass through and prevents glare from the sun. Guests can therefore enjoy their food and drinks in pleasant light under the closed PergoTex II pergola awning. It never gets too dark under the fabric.
