Pergola awning for 5-star hotel "Prinz von Hessen"
The 5-star Hotel Prinz von Hessen in Friedewald near Bad Hersfeld has covered its restaurant terrace with two pergola awnings from weinor. This means that hotel guests and restaurant visitors can use the terrace for longer and are optimally protected from wind and weather.
Anyone who treats themselves to a stay at the "Prinz von Hessen", one of 12 family-run 4- to 5-star hotels run by hotel entrepreneur Göbel with 92 luxurious rooms and 13 spacious suites, will first of all be impressed by the impressive ambience. The hotel is part of a moated castle complex from the late 15th century and served the Hessian landgraves as an administrative centre and hunting lodge. Since 1997, a castle hotel has been integrated, a combination of historical and new building fabric including modern interior design. The ensemble is embedded in the natural paradise of Waldhessen with the best conditions for sporting activities and extensive outdoor enjoyment of the countryside.
The right solution: pergola awning
In order to allow guests to spend long periods in the fresh air in the hotel area, a patio cover for the outdoor area was considered. For the owner couple Markus and Andrea Göbel, however, it was important that the guests could maintain a close connection to the outside despite the weather protection, i.e. that no additional space was created that would only offer limited visual freedom. In conversation with Thomas Ritz, a trained carpenter and timber merchant from the neighbouring town of Eiterfeld, who offers sun protection and glass houses, among other things, a suitable solution was quickly found. Ritz has a pergola awning from the manufacturer weinor in his range. Its advantage: it not only offers reliable sun protection, but also defies wind and rain. While a normal awning has to be retracted in strong winds or rain, PergoTex II can remain extended. The Schlosshotel's restaurant guests can therefore continue to enjoy their food and drinks outdoors, regardless of the weather.
Dimmable LED spotlights create a cosy atmosphere
The hotel operators also found other arguments very convincing. For example, dimmable LED spotlights can be integrated into the crossbars. They spread a pleasant, atmospheric light that creates a cosy mood on the terrace in the evening. Rainwater is reliably drained away so that guests are sure to stay dry. What's more, the high-quality, design-award-winning folding construction is not only elegant. It also withstands wind loads of up to force 8, so Thomas Ritz was commissioned to fit the terrace with a PergoTex II. In order to protect the largest possible outdoor area, he installed two pergola awnings with LED lighting next to each other. They can be operated using a hand-held radio transmitter. It can also be used to dim the LED spotlights.
Terrace can be used for longer
The result is a complete success. The pergola awning blends harmoniously into the rear façade of the hotel. "With this system, we offer our guests real added value. They can use our terrace for much longer, whatever the weather. Of course, this also increases the overall attractiveness of our catering offer," says owner Markus Göbel happily. So now he can certainly expect an increase in demand from guests who want to enjoy an extended stay in the healthy air on the northern edge of the Rhön.
