When planning the detached single-family home in Biedenkopf, Hesse, great importance was attached to a modern design. High functionality meets a sophisticated look

The cubic roof shape was the most important requirement for the louvred roof to ensure that the patio roof perfectly matched the house and its linear design. "In the search for a suitable solution, we ruled out all other alternatives such as tensioned sails, an awning pergola or a glass patio roof in advance for visual reasons," says the client.

Thanks to the large selection of more than 200 colours for the frame colour, an anthracite shade was quickly found that perfectly matches the other design elements of the house, such as window frames and roller shutters.

Shading as desired

Thanks to the rotating slats, the amount of light entering under the patio roof can be individually adjusted when the sun is shining. The temperature can also be regulated in this way: If it gets too hot under the roof, the residents simply open the slats and the heated air flows upwards. In this way, the climate on the patio can be easily controlled via the degree to which the slats are opened. There is also a clever solution for rain: rainwater is channelled through the slightly sloping roof into gutters and downwards through posts in a controlled manner.

Reliable glare and privacy protection

Additional protection is provided by the elegant grey vertical awnings on the sides and front of the louvred roof. The family also appreciates the additional shading for more privacy on the patio. The zip system ensures that the awning fabric is firmly tensioned on both sides. This keeps the fabric nice and taut and offers maximum wind stability.

As the vertical awnings are slightly transparent, they allow a view of the garden and surroundings at all times. When retracted, the side awnings are concealed in the frame profile of the roof.

Automatic weather control and radio control

The optional sensor-controlled automatic weather system is crucial for the safety of the louvre roof. The sensor reacts to sun, rain, wind, frost and snow. "If it detects sunlight, for example, the slats are set to around 13 degrees," says specialist dealer Achim Pelz, "this prevents heat build-up and ensures a natural bioclimate in which the warm air can escape." When it rains, the slats close automatically, and at sub-zero temperatures they are raised slightly in the frost protection position to prevent them from freezing. With the exception of certain weather-dependent protection settings, the owner can always operate his system using a hand-held transmitter.

The client and his family certainly wouldn't want to be without their new outdoor living space. "We are very happy with the louvre roof, its shape and appearance are a perfect match for our house!"
