Patio roof in private residential buildings
In keeping with the modern architecture of their house, a family in Erkelenz in the Lower Rhine region created a weather-protected outdoor seating area near the pool. The variably adjustable Artares louvre roof from sun and weather protection expert weinor has considerably extended the patio's useful life. Equipped with vertical awnings, the cubic roofing can be transformed into a wind and weather-protected place of well-being.
With the generous new louvred roof, part of the patio has been transformed into a cosy outdoor living room. Lots of chairs and a wooden bench with cosy cushions invite you to play and eat together at the long table. In addition to the family of four, there is also plenty of room for friends and relatives. The tilted slats of the sun and weather protection spread a pleasant light and create interesting chiaroscuro accents with their shadows. "Our previous patio was barely usable in the rain and wind," reports the owner, "the new roofing means we can now use it for longer and are therefore far more independent of the weather."
High quality and modern design
In addition to the high load-bearing capacity, the appealing design of the roof was also a decisive factor: "The Artares roof is extremely stable and fits in very well with the architecture of our house thanks to its linear design," says the client. The cubic design particularly appealed to the family. The addition of the modern patio roof to the 240 m2 home adds an interesting architectural element to the structural ensemble.
Thanks to the large selection of more than 200 colours for the frame colour, the owners quickly found an anthracite shade that perfectly matched the other design elements of the house, such as the window frames and garage door.
Always a cosy climate
The louvred roof can be opened and closed very easily using the radio control. Thanks to the rotating slats, the amount of light entering when the sun shines can be individually adjusted. The temperature under the louvred roof can also be regulated in this way. Thomas Kranich, Managing Director of the specialist company TKS Bauelemente + Sonnenschutz from Korschenbroich, whose team installed the louvred roof, explains how it works: "If it gets too hot under the roof, you open the louvres and the heated air flows upwards through the roof. This makes it easy to control the climate by adjusting the degree to which the louvres are open." There is also a clever solution for rain: "The rainwater is drained away in a controlled manner via the slightly sloping roof into gutters and downwards through posts," explains the TKS boss.
Reliable glare and privacy protection
The elegant grey VertiTex II Zip vertical awnings provide additional protection against the low sun. They not only keep out the blinding, low sun, but also protect against draughts and prying eyes. The zip system ensures that the fabric is firmly tensioned on both sides. The advantages: a taut fabric, no light gap and maximum wind stability.
As the vertical awnings are transparent from the inside, they provide a view of the garden and pool at all times. A clever design ensures that the side awnings are stored invisibly in the frame profile of the roof when they are retracted.
The louvred roof is equipped with a weather sensor to ensure the safety of the system. This automatically closes the roof when it rains and retracts the vertical awnings when the wind picks up.
The family no longer wants to do without the variable sun and weather protection. "Because we use the pool, we spend a lot of time on the patio in summer," says the client, "and our new louvre roof has made spending time outdoors even more enjoyable."
