Glass oasis for a residential building in Pirmasens
Cubic houses with clear shapes are very popular - especially if they offer enough space for individual design options in addition to a high level of functionality. The purist architect's house of the Deutschmann family near Pirmasens combines these qualities. The adjoining glass oasis® from sun and weather protection expert weinor is a particular gem: a cubic patio roof complete with sliding glass walls.
The Deutschmanns' 350m2 house was built in 2010 with modern design aspects in mind. In 2022, it was then fitted with exposed concrete elements and wooden panelling on the cantilevered sections of the building corpus. In addition, the exposed location of the architect's house on a hill made it necessary to shield the terrace well against wind and weather. "The addition of effective and resilient sun and wind protection was urgently needed," reports owner Norman Deutschmann.
Cubic glass oasis® wanted!
The client finally received the right recommendation from master craftsman Rolladen Huber from Pirmasens. "Because the cubic, purist design fitted in perfectly with our architecture, we decided in favour of the Glasoase® based on the Terrazza Pure patio roof," says owner Deutschmann. The linear installation now covers an area of around five by four metres.
Almost magical: invisible roof slope
Felix Huber, Managing Director of the craftsman's business, explains the highlight of the linear design: "The special glass support technology is so intelligently integrated into the roof girders that the roof pitch is not visible from the outside. The observer is presented with a cube made of glass and aluminium, which integrates into the purist design of the building as if it were one piece."
It was also the specialist retailer who recommended the sliding glass walls and a conservatory awning underneath to the client: "It can get quite warm under all-round glazed constructions when the sun is shining," explains the expert. "In addition to the wide-opening sliding glass walls, we therefore also recommend a shading system as effective sun protection for the patio to ensure a pleasant climate. This can be easily operated by radio control." Another effect of the recessed conservatory awning: with its textile charm, it creates a cosy flair in the Glasoase®.
Adaptable aluminium profiles
"Apart from the design, the materials and the use of colour are particularly important to us," reports the client. Limiting the colours to white and anthracite for the plaster, exposed concrete and window frames conveys clarity. Wood and stainless steel are added as natural counterpoints. As more than 200 different frame colours were available for the high-quality paint coating, it was possible to select exactly the right shade of anthracite. The cold conservatory therefore blends in effortlessly with the overall design of the building.
"The investment in the cubic glass oasis® has paid off in full," says the client, "we use the terrace every day from spring to autumn." He is also very satisfied with the specialist company that carried out the work: "Mr Huber gave us really professional advice and the installation went flawlessly. It pays off when absolute professionals are at work!"
