Patio awning in private residential building in Halle
In times of limited living space, small but well-equipped residential units are very popular. However, the search for a suitably compact sun shading system is not always easy - especially if it is to be both high-quality and visually appealing. For example, a flat owner in Halle an der Saale was looking for a cassette awning with a linear design for his 15m2 terrace. With the cubic Smaila awning from weinor, he found a high-quality shade.
In order to offer its residents the greatest possible outdoor enjoyment, the modern apartment block in Halle an der Saale, built in 2020, opens up its façade to the west with smaller terraces and balconies. But it is precisely here that the sun lingers for long periods of time every day and can therefore develop enormous power in the summer months. For this reason, the owner of a single-family flat in the 14-unit building contacted the specialist retailer and sun protection expert Rofupa in Halle. Kai Pitzschke, the company's managing director, recommended the Smaila sun shading awning from weinor, a high-quality shade that is also suitable for smaller terraces thanks to its compact shape.
High load capacity thanks to sophisticated technology
"The cassette awning not only impresses with its modern cubic design," explains Kai Pitzschke, "it also features state-of-the-art awning technology such as a wind uplift protection system and the particularly low-noise weinor LongLife arm with resilient high-tech strap." When retracted, the fabric and technology rest securely in the cassette. Thanks to its consistent cubic design, the cassette literally merges with the metal construction of the balconies above, blending harmoniously into the overall appearance. The awning can also be easily retracted and extended using a hand-held transmitter.
Powder coating for a long awning life
In addition to the design, the owner attached great importance to the durability of his awning. Here, too, the specialist retailer was able to provide convincing arguments. The cassette awning is powder-coated in the manufacturer's own facilities, thus ensuring the same colour with the same gloss level for subsequent extensions such as side awnings. The wide range of colours with more than 200 frame colours made it possible to match the exact shade of grey of the metal construction of the balconies above - for a look that is as if cast from a single mould.
Colour through and through with spinneret dyeing
The awning fabric is spun-dyed for extra UV resistance and durability. This means that the colour pigment is incorporated into the fibre during the spinning process. This is not the case with piece or yarn dyeing, where an existing material is dyed afterwards. The owners selected the purist plain grey shade to match the awning frame and the colours of the house from around 170 fabric designs. The awning and fabric now form a subtle frame in which the colourful patio furniture comes into its own.
Atmospheric lighting
To kill two birds with one stone, the owner opted for a version with recessed LED spotlights. These spread an atmospheric light with a direct glow and can even be dimmed via radio control. This turned the patio into an outdoor living area that can be used well into the evening.
The new sun shading brought cosiness and textile flair to the patio. At the same time, the outdoor seating area has been given a good deal more privacy from the balconies above. The owner family is certainly very happy to be able to spend even more time outdoors now. And the well-tended potted plants are also safely protected from too much sunlight.
