Patio roof for a detached house in Nuremberg
A linked system with four cubic glass terrace roofs, behind which is a complete window front with sliding doors: nobody can complain about a lack of light in the modern new building near Nuremberg. The extensive terrace roof construction creates an outdoor area along the main wing with flowing transitions between indoor and outdoor space. The house façade opens elegantly onto the spacious garden with outdoor pool.
When planning his 300 m2 modern detached house to KfW40 standard, the client had already envisaged a spacious terrace roof system along the entire length of the south side of the main building. Equipped with cosy under-glass awnings, it provides reliable sun and weather protection well into the autumn. In summer, the recessed shading ensures that the interior blinds can remain open. This allows a clear view of the extensive garden even on hot, sunny days.
High quality and cubic design
The decision in favour of the Terrazza Pure patio roof from sun and weather protection expert Weinor was not a difficult one for the client. His previous property had already been fitted with a canopy from the manufacturer. But now it is precisely the rectangular shape that appealed to him: "Quality and appearance are important to us," says the homeowner, "and the cubic shape just looks great!". It fits perfectly into the ensemble of buildings and forms a design unit with the flat roof of the single-storey extension.
"The cubic construction conceals a clever technical detail," explains Gerd Raschke, Managing Director of the specialist company Raschke & Hofmann from Erlangen, who installed the roofing with his team. "In the horizontal roof beams, the glass elements rest on an integrated glass support with a gradient that is not visible from the outside. This creates a cubic appearance and at the same time reliably drains rainwater." Another advantage of the high-quality roof construction is that it is particularly stable and can therefore bear high snow loads.
Even more outdoor enjoyment
As it can get quite hot under a patio roof, especially when facing south or west, the roof has been fitted with lowered conservatory awnings that can be retracted and extended individually. With their light grey textile covering, they create a cosy flair and protect against heat and glaring sunlight. "Whether you're having a garden party or chilling out - with the patio roof and conservatory awnings, you're always well shaded and protected from the rain on the patio," says the owner happily.
The LED spotlights embedded in the awning cassette create a cosy atmosphere in the evening. And when it gets a little cooler, the two radiant heaters mounted on the house wall spread pleasant warmth. All components are part of the Weinor patio system. "We use the heating system regularly, especially in the transitional period," reports the homeowner.
Many design options
However, it was not only the shape of the patio roof that was important to the homeowners. The wide range of frame colours played an equally important role. "The different colour options were also a deciding factor," reports the owner. The manufacturer has over 200 colours on offer. Powder coating in the company's own factory ensures colour fastness and a uniform gloss level, even for different products such as the patio roof, shading and heating system. The clients were thus able to make the design of the house and weather protection system look as if they had been cast from a single mould. They also had a choice of more than 170 different fabric designs for the under-glass awnings.
The family spends almost a quarter of their free time on their patio. With the patio roof in their new home, they can make their time outdoors even more comfortable and extend their outdoor enjoyment many times over.
